It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

If you follow me on Instagram you will know that I am just a bit excited for christmas. Just a little bit. I was trying to hold off celebrating for closer to Thanksgiving but then I stopped by Macy's this weekend and my resolve was broken. There's nothing like Macy's at Christmas time. The decorations never fail to make me as giddy as a kid on Christmas Eve. The big red stars, twinkle lights and window displays are always the sign I go to as proof that it is okay to start celebrating in November.

One of the best things about Macy's in Chicago is the Walnut Room. Right in the center of the restaurant is a gigantic, sparkling tree. Think the tree in your living room but about three stories larger and with a million more twinkle lights.

The restaurant fills up pretty quickly but there tends to be open spots at the wine bar. They have amazing holiday cocktails and really delicious desserts. Last year I stopped by for a large glass of wine and a yule log, a chocolate filled vanilla cake and bittersweet chocolate icing. This year I went for a Frango coffee, Frango liqueur, Baileys irish cream, Frangelico, coffee and whipped cream and Frango mint chocolate ice cream pie (chocolate crust, Frango mint chocolate ice cream, chocolate sauce and whipped cream). Are your eyes rolling back in your head yet? The coffee and pie were amazing together and, whether you're in the Christmas spirit yet or not, it's worth a trip just to give it a try.

Be sure to also check out the basement. What's better than treats? Treats in Christmas wrappings!

There is nothing like Christmas in the city. There are a ton of Christmas events coming up and I can't wait! If you're attending any, and you see a girl staring wide-eyed at all the lights as she hums Christmas songs under her breath, don't be alarmed. It's just me. Speaking of which, if anyone has any good holiday recommendations I would love to hear them!
